Advanced Lighting & Sound recently completed a renovation project for Roseville Community Schools. The middle School Auditorium was in dire need of an updated sound and presentation system for a variety of events and programs that are held in the space.
The project was designed by Rael Blair from the Barton Malow Company. The design of the system was to provide a system that allowed for significant control of the sound t minimize unwanted reflections and improve clarity. The main audio system was designed around a Yamaha LS9-32 digital console along with a SB168-ES digital snake box. The Yamaha was chosen for its ease of use and the simple integration with the stage box. To provide the necessary control and output a pair of Renkus-Heinz ICL-FR Dual speakers were installed. These are the big brother to the Iconyx model. This unit provides significantly more output and extended low frequency response. A pair of Renkus-Heinz PN112-SUB powered subs also rounded out the low frequency response of the system.
The Theatre program is important at the school so a variety of Shure ULXP wireless units were added to the new booth area. Other outboard equipment included Tascam playback devices, Telex wireless intercom equipment, Middle Atlantic racks and hardware and a Listen assistive listening system.
Another big portion of the install was the addition of a video presentation system. The system is designed around the Crestron DMPS-300C. This multipurpose unit provides control and processing along with supporting the Crestron DM series of video distribution equipment. The system provides for local inputs at the booth as well as remote stage inputs for PC and HDMI signals. Touch panels located in the Stage Manager rack and at the booth provide the user interface. An Eiki HDT-1000 video projector was selected for the display. It is a 10,000 lumen WUXGA unit that fit well into the total solution.
The project completed on time and on budget keeping everyone happy. Next stop the High School Auditorium for an update to the audio system and a new projection system as well.
